Each year, Limina awards a prize of $100 for the best submission from any postgraduate student in Australia or New Zealand. The Iain Brash Prize is named in honour of Iain Brash, marking his great contribution to the study of History at The University of Western Australia. Rules and Procedures of the Iain Brash Prize:1. All enrolled postgraduate students in Australia and New Zealand are eligible to enter, except for current members of the Limina Editorial Collective. 2. All submissions to be considered for the prize must be received by Limina before 30 September 2008. 3. Maximum length is 6000 words, excluding footnotes. Submissions should comply with the Style Guide, and the Information for Authors available on the Limina website. Please provide your name, title of the paper, contact details (including telephone and e-mail) and indicate your affiliation and stage of research. An abstract of 150 words is also required, as is a guarantee that the article is not under consideration elsewhere. 4. Winner of the Iain Brash prize will receive $100 and publication of his or her paper in Volume 15 (2009), subject to the usual editorial and refereeing processes of the journal. 5. The winner will be advised immediately prior to publication of Volume 14. The winner will be announced at the launch of Volume 15 of Limina. 6. All submissions will be considered for publication subject to the usual editorial and refereeing processes of the journal. 7. If appropriate, a ‘highly commended’ category may be awarded in addition to the Iain Brash Prize. 8. Limina reserves the right not to award a prize. 9. The judging panel will comprise three independent academic judges from different areas of interest. There will be no process of appeal. 10. These rules and procedures form part of the conditions of entry of the Iain Brash Prize. |
